Standards Council of Canada

The Standards Council of Canada is a federal Crown corporation with the mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization. Located in Ottawa, the Standards Council has a 15 member governing Council and a staff of approximately 70. The organization reports to Parliament through the Minister of Industry.

The Standards Council of Canada had a requirement to facilitate the management of all ISO documents for Canada utilizing a secure web based document management system. Kovatec Inc. proposed to solve these issues by scanning and indexing the current weekly and/or bi-weekly hard and soft copy Word and PDF documents then storing the images in a secure repository, outsourced to a secure extranet browser.

Kovatec’s Knowledge Banker, the end-user interface, is a knowledge repository built from scanned or electronic documents using client defined keywords and phrases for efficient search capabilities. Knowledge Banker categorizes these documents through automatic profiling. Saperion is one of the engines behind it.
